Paal kozhukattai|Undralla payasam( in telugu), in most of the houses they make for ganesha chaturthi|vinayagar chaturthi. I have posted the version of paal kozhuttai with jaggery , this one is more similar to that. I have replaced the sugar with jaggery in this post. The addition of coconut milk makes this sweet more rich and nice. Try out this paal kozhukattai for this Ganesha chaturthi. even you can make this on regular days also as a dessert too.

HOME MADE COCONUT MILK RECIPE|HOW TO MAKE COCONUT MILK |INDIAN KITCHEN BASICS
Coconut milk generally , my mom makes at home. After coming to Singapore, we get coconut milk in different forms. We get fresh coconut milk, in tetra paks and also coconut powder too. So it was too convenient for me and i rarely make it at home. But the taste which we make it at home is truly amazing, and it is very easy too. I realised this when i made this at home yesterday. I used this coconut milk for Paal kozhukattai. You can have coconut milk for Aapam or Idiyappam too. I have used coconut milk for my Tomato biryani.

BHINDI BADAM MASALA RECIPE | SIDE DISH FOR CHAPATHI |ROTI
I have already shared that my recipes got featured in Aval vikatan a popular Tamil magazine. I also promised that i will post some of the classic recipes from that book here with step wise pictures. Today i am sharing the recipe of Bhindi badam masala , a classic rich gravy, a perfect side dish for roti |naan. this bhindi masala never fails to impress your family and guests too. I got this idea from a cookbook of Tarla dalal which i happened to see in a book store in Chennai..The original recipe was with cashew nuts and was slightly different too. Bhindi was not added in the recipe. I tweaked the recipe according to my convenience and it turned out amazingly well. When i made the recipe for the magazine, i couldn't take step wise pictures. Also i used tomato puree and so the colour you in the final picture is slightly brownish than in the step wise picture.Stay tuned for more side dish for roti recipes.

I used my Eggless Vanilla Sponge cake recipe for this recipe by just replacing a portion of flour with cocoa powder. I have no clue about the icing . My reader who started a blog also now, gave me all ideas about icing. Thank you so much Sujatha ram of Indian veg kitchen for clarifying my silly doubts and guiding me even in buying the ingredients for icing too. I am trying this same cake for the second time. I made this 2 months back for our wedding anniversary.
Scroll down the recipe to get more tips in baking cake and icing tips and also for a guessing game.

SOJJI APPAM RECIPE | KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI RECIPES
Sojji appam , is mostly made during Krishna jayanthi or the Sumangali pooja . During our childhood days, whenever we visit Madurai Thiruparamkundram temple with my mama, he buys this sojji appam for us as we both love that very much. We both happily sit in the Kovil and relish this without caring about the calories. This sojji appam is highly addictive. My athai makes this sojji appam very well and it is her favorite sweet too. Last year itself i wanted to post this recipe of sojji appam, but somehow missed it.
Sojji means Kesari|sooji ka halwa. The outer layer is covered by maida and inside stuffing will be with sojji. I made the sojji with jaggery, but you can make with sugar instead of jaggery. Do not add kesar colour for Kesari, if making with sugar.

I tried microwave version of theratipal long back and posted the recipe too. My mil makes with cow's milk and she always tells that it will give a perfect taste and colour to the palkova.

RAVA PAYASAM RECIPE| SOOJI KHEER RECIPE
Rava payasam or Sooji payasam is a very simple kheer . Generally it is made for Varalakshmi pooja or any auspicious fridays . Though my mom makes rava payasam , this is the first time i am trying at home. It turned out very well and it is a very easy and simple payasam . I added little condensed milk so that it will not taste like a porridge.
