Garlic rice recipe, using Brown rice

Garlic rice recipe with video and step by step pictures

Garlic rice recipe, a very simple garlic flavored rice made using Brown Sona masoori rice, healthy lunch box recipes. Recently we have switched to brown rice. Actually i tried many varieties of brown rice but somehow not satisfied with any thing. I picked the Brown Sona masoori rice in Sri Murugan stores Singapore and finally completely satisfied with the rice. And the most gratifying thing is kids too started eating this without any fuss. So we almost switched to brown sona masoori rice. This rice goes well with rasam, sambar and curd rice too. Today i wanted to try this brown rice with variety rice and it tasted so yum. We couldn't make out the taste difference too.

Focaccia bread recipe

How to make Focaccia Bread

Focaccia bread is an Italian flat bread with Garlic and herbs, baked in an oven and it is generally topped with fresh herbs or olives and cherry tomatoes too. The very first time i got tasted Focaccia bread in Singapore is the store bought Gardernia bran Focaccia bread. A friend of us bought this for us once, as we were new to Singapore and asked us to try it out. It was 10 years back and the kids were small and they didn't like the taste of the bread. Later i never attempted to buy it or make it at home. Recently one of our best friend, who is a very good baker, made this focaccia bread and send me a picture of the bread too. I got too much tempted and i decided to try this out. The recipe i adapted from here. As the tastes change over a period, the first  bake of focaccia bread is a super hit at home. I shared my first attempt in my instagram story too. I made this again yesterday for kids and clicked the step by pictures on how to make focaccia bread, the original recipe adapted from here. The bread turned out super soft and moist and we all loved it.

Paneer Biryani recipe, Paneer recipes

Paneer biryani recipe, paneer cubes marinated and cooked with aromatic spices and basmati rice, pressure cooker method. Paneer recipes are loved by everyone at home and after making fried rice and pulao using paneer, tried making Paneer biryani today. Generally Biryani is a bit lengthy process but it is totally worth the effort. I have already posted how to make Veg Dum biryani recipe, with step by step pictures. This Paneer Biryani is made in Pressure cooker, and it turned out so delicious. This one pot meal is a super hit at my place and i am sure this Dindugal thalapakatti style Paneer biryani is a treat for paneer lovers. If you are making Paneer biryani using frozen paneer, soak it in hot water for few minutes and then proceed to marinate them, else they will turn hard after cooking. It tasted similar to the restaurant style paneer biryani, especially the one I tasted here in Kailash Parbath,Singapore. Try this out at home and let me know how it turned out.

Yogurt Brownies recipe| Chocolate brownies

Yogurt brownies recipe with video

Yogurt brownies|Chocolate brownies, almost fat free brownies as no butter or oil is used in this recipe. These brownies were tasted awesome and when it is approved by kids then we can call it as a no fail yogurt brownies recipe. Now a days i am slowly reducing the consumption of store bought biscuits. I try to bake some healthy goodies at home for the kids snack box. Even sometimes if i use plain flour,at least i feel it is better than the store bought biscuits and cakes. When they wanted something chocolate based, i decided to make Chocolate brownies for them. This recipe attracted me a lot as it doesn't involve any butter or oil in this. The yogurt only gives the smooth texture to the fudge brownies. I used Alvas Natural curd to make this Yogurt brownies.
For my Readers in Singapore, though we get lot of yogurt in Singapore, the reason why I choose
Alvas curd is :
-Freshly made daily in Singapore.
-Made from Fresh New Zealand Cow’s milk and not buffalo
milk(toned milk)
-Naturally rich, thick and creamy without any chemicals, thickeners

Places to purchase Alvas Natural Curd:
-Mustafa Centre
-Sheng Siong Supermarkets and Prime super markets.
-Most Indian Grocery stores( including Sri Murugan stores)

Hummus recipe | Home made hummus

Hummus is a popular Mediterranean chickpeas dip, quite simple to make at home. I tasted this for the first time in a restaurant here in Singapore along with falafel and Pita bread. Later when i attended the cookery demo by Master Chef Nikita Gandhi, she taught Methi hummus recipe. But most of the hummus recipes use Tahini in it. The tahini we get here is expensive and comes in large bottles which is too big for a small family. Last year when we visited a friend for dinner, she made hummus and served with store bought Pita bread. It tasted so well. She told she didn't add Tahini and just added roasted sesame seeds. Later i totally forgot it,recently when we visited a Mediterranean restaurant here in Singapore,we had this Hummus along with other dips. I had some frozen chickpeas at home and immediately tried it today. It tasted so awesome and we had with store bought Tortilla chips. You can make this with Canned Chickpeas too.

Thai style noodles recipe | millet noodles

Thai style vegetarian noodles recipe, using Millet noodles, with video and step by step pictures. I wanted to post the popular Pad thai noodles. recipe. But the authentic pad thai recipe use fish sauce and other ingredients which i don't think i use in daily cooking. Generally i make hakka noodles for the kids using plain noodles or spaghetti. Rice noodles is not liked by kids so generally,i make South Indian sevai only using Rice noodles. I have tried the Vegetarian Bee hoon recipe using the brown rice noodles. This thai style style noodles recipe is bit different from Bee hoon,as it uses peanut butter in it. The sauce base which we use for this Thai veg noodles is quite interesting and it tasted so awesome too. The peanut butter didn't taste very strong in this recipe,so if you don't like the flavor of peanut butter also, you will like it. I tried this using Millet noodles recipe. Kids loved this and didn't found any difference.
Pad thai noodles

 For my readers in Singapore

Will share another interesting noodles recipe using their Millet noodles. This noodles comes with a taste maker inside the packet. But i didn't use that one.
