Samosa chutney recipe, Sweet chutney

Samosa chutney recipe, the sweet chutney| meethi chutney recipe made using jaggery and tamarind pulp pairs well with Samosa, dhoklas and cutlets too. This chutney can be used in other chaats too. I have posted the Sweet chutney using dates, but somehow i like the thin chutneys they serve in the chaat shops when we order samosa. Recently one of our friend got this chutney for a potluck party. She brought this to accompany Dhokla. From that day i was thinking to try this out. I adapted the recipe from her and made some modifications to suit my taste. It turned out so yum and tasted, smelled the same way as we get in street side chaat houses. This can be stored for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator. For samosa recipe with video click here.

Lemon aval recipe, Quick breakfast recipes

Lemon aval recipe| lemon poha is a quick and easy, bachelor friendly breakfast recipe made using poha| aval, with a tangy flavour of lemon.  Most of the days when we are running out of time or out of idli dosa batter, you can make this lemon aval recipe. Even this recipe comes as a savior for weeknight dinner too. I used getti aval | thick poha for this recipe. You can sue red aval too. Thin aval | lacy poha will not work well for this recipe as the poha will not get separated easily when using the thin ones.
Poha| aval| rice flakes are commonly used to make upma and we use it in making idli dosa batter as it gives softness. Also aval is widely used in making payasam, kesari and puttu. I have posted the popular batata poha recipe in jeyashri's kitchen. In the mango season do try the Mango masala poha recipe. Also we have the South Indian version of Milagu aval, puli aval, mor aval and vella aval recipe. Do try this variety of poha recipes from Jeyashri's kitchen and enjoy your breakfast.

Killu milagai rasam | Sathamadu, a very simple rasam without tomato and rasam powder.  A quick and easy to make bachelor friendly rasam recipe with tamarind water and red chili as main ingredients. Recently when my friend visited Chennai, she was having lunch at her patti's house and the loving 90 year grandmother always amazes her by her simple yet tasty recipes. While she was there, we both were having a conversation on phone and she was telling about this Killu milagai Rasam | sathamudu. When she was telling about the simplicity of the recipe, i told her to record the rasam recipe in patti's voice. She did that and sent to me. The same day i made it and it was so delicious. I was amazed how a rasam can taste so yum without tomato, dal water, coriander leaves or rasam powder. Those days when there are so many members in the family, and it is difficult to financially afford for an elaborate meal with veggies, this rasam is a savior with minimum ingredients. Sweet ammini kozhukattai, mani kozhakattais made using left over kozhukattai dough and sweet poornam. We always make spicy version of ammini kozhukattai and it is my personal favorite too. I have posted 2 varieties of spicy ammini kozhukattai, but want to give it a try on sweet version too. This Ganesh Chaturthi 2018, i wanted to post some simple kozhakattai recipes. Recently i met a bachelor friend, who was telling that she wants to make modak as she loves it but don't have the patience or time to sit and do the shape. I told her to use the modakam mould which is quite easy. She immediately told that she doesn't have the mould too. After coming home, i was thinking about that then the idea of sweet ammini kozhukattai, which i have seen in many websites came to my mind. Definitely in no way it will match the traditional modakam, but to satiate the cravings of the kozhukattai, you can try this one. You can use store bought rice flour or idiyappam flour for making this. If you live in a place where you won't get fresh coconut, you follow the poornam recipe, following my modakam using desiccated coconut. Enjoy the festival without missing the festival food.

Teh tarik recipe | Condensed milk tea

Teh-tarik

Teh tarik, the term i heard it first when i moved to Singapore. It is nothing but our tea with condensed milk. They don't use milk for making this tea. In the local Kopitiam(cafe) language it is called Teh . This a popular Malaysian beverage. The terms they use for different beverages are quite unique and you should really know the Kopitiam language before placing the order. Though i live here for almost 9 years now, i never visited any local food court Kopitiams. Few years back i had Teh tarik, when we went with a group of friends to toast box, after a morning run. When we were kids, amma used to make tea with milk and whenever we have condensed milk at home, after making some kheers, she will pour some hot water to the tin and add it to the boiling milk tea. This tea will be thick and the taste will be awesome. Those days buying condensed milk is very rare and we will look forward to that too.
Very recently, when i accompanied one of our friend to a hospital, after the consultation, we went to the Kopitiam inside the hospital campus. I ordered this Teh  and since it was an open kitchen, saw the guy making the tea. He made it in 2 minutes and it really tasted very nice. I had a tin of condensed milk at home and tried it this morning. I could say it tasted so perfect to the one served in the cafe. When you plan to make any payasam recipe using condensed milk, try out this teh at home.
In traditional teh tarik, after adding all the ingredients they will bring it to froth, which they call pulled tea. But i haven't seen that here in Singapore, but feel free to froth it up if you wish that way.
Disclaimer: I don't claim that it is the authentic way of making Teh tarik. If you have any tips or variations on this recipe please share in comments section
