Nungu rose milk | Palm fruit rose milk recipe with video and step wise pictures , summer coolant recipe made using nungu and rose milk syrup. Rose milk is one of my most favorite drink from the childhood. My mom used to make rose milk for me almost all the days during summer. Also i have seen roohafza with watermelon drink popularly called as Mohabat ka sarbath. Here in the local shops they sell the Malay special rose milk called Bandung. But i always love the South Indian Rose milk.
I saw this rose milk syrup from Sri Murugan stores, Singapore and wanted to try it out.
I actually planned to make rose milk ice cream. But i have got fresh nungu from the Indian shop, so i am so tempted to make this Nungu rose milk. It was so refreshing and perfect for this hot summer. Myself and my daughter enjoyed it so much. Also check out the Nungu sarbath recipe too.
Friends in Singapore, we get this rose milk syrup in Sri murugan stores Singapore. They have a wide range of Indian grocery and you can place the orders through their Android and iOs app too. Orders are delivered at your door steps island wide.

Nungu sarbath recipe

Nungu sarbath recipe, a perfect summer thirst quencher recipe made using nungu and nanari sarbath. The addition of the sabja seeds enhances the taste. Growing up in Madurai, we have tasted this nungu sarbath many times. More than trying it outside, we used to make it at home. My mama used to get nanarai sarbath bottle from shop during summer. We used to make the plain sarbath at home and also the nungu sarbath too. The first taste of the nungu sarbath was in Kanyakumari, when i was in 7th standard. Vividly remember visiting the beach in Kanyakumari on a hot summer day and enjoying the nungu sarbath on the way back.

My sister was insisting me to post this Nungu sarbath recipe for a long time. Somehow i don't get nungu in nearby Indian shops. Last weekend i went to Little India and happened to see this in a shop. More than me my sister is so happy that i am posting this nungu sarbath recipe in Jeyashris kitchen.

Kashayam for Cold and Cough, Home remedy

Kashayam for common cold and cough | கஷாயம் in tamil, with a video and step by step pictures, with clear explanations on how to make a Kashayam with easily available ingredients at home and home garden. Generally my mom never gives us any medicine for common cold and cough, as she always says it will last for a week and give us only home remedies. Being a nurse by profession, she never allow us to take medicine for common cold. Later when my kids started growing up i too followed the same practise. For the past few days me and husband are having cough and finally today i made a kashayam at home and i had some time at my disposal and so blogging it too. I am sure many homes follow different methods of kashayam, this is the common one we used to make at home. If you omit one or 2 ingredients also it is fine. I have given alternatives for that in the ingredient table itself.
I got the chitarathai from Sri Murugan stores, Singapore. They have got wide range of nattu marundu products in their shop in small packets. We can store this in the refrigerator for later use. I always buy my monthly grocery from Sri murugan stores and they do home delivery too. We can also order through their Android or iOs mobile app.

Cold coffee recipe

Cold coffee recipe, I am a big fan of filter coffee but generally i prefer my coffee super hot. For the past few weeks, my daughter Varsha started making coffee on her own and she was pestering me that she will make a post on jeyashri's kitchen as she has holidays now. We took a video for making cold coffee but it got corrupted and we couldn't edit that. Luckily i captured the step wise pictures on how to make cold coffee. Now over to Varsha...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heyy guys I hope all of you are having a BREW-tiful day! (Anyone got the pun?) I’m back with another post after nearly…2years!? Anyways after lots of convincing Amma has finally let me post something on her blog.

I recently started drinking coffee (filter coffee only, I hate instant coffee) and I have fallen in love with it. I have also learnt how to make it on my own so I don’t have to pester Amma every time I want to have it. So when I make my own coffee I like to experiment with the coffee decoction and try out random combinations. This recipe was one of my experiments which turned out really well. I liked it a LATTE and I hope you do to!!

Turmeric milk recipe

Turmeric milk recipe,Turmeric milk with video, made with fresh turmeric, ginger, pepper and palm jaggery. Generally when we have dry cough or sore throat, amma used to give hot milk with manjal podi and milagu in the night before going to sleep. Generally doctors say milk or milk products thickens the phlegm, but when turmeric and pepper is added it is will not do any harm. The naturopathy doctor whom i visited few months back, suggested me to add 2 pinches of turmeric and pepper powder to the water i drink everyday. It reduces inflammation in the body and acts as an anti oxidant. I have started taking the water in that way and i am used to that now. Try this turmeric milk for the rainy season and say good bye to your cough. I used fresh turmeric in this recipe. You can use turmeric powder too.

Teh tarik recipe | Condensed milk tea

Teh-tarik

Teh tarik, the term i heard it first when i moved to Singapore. It is nothing but our tea with condensed milk. They don't use milk for making this tea. In the local Kopitiam(cafe) language it is called Teh . This a popular Malaysian beverage. The terms they use for different beverages are quite unique and you should really know the Kopitiam language before placing the order. Though i live here for almost 9 years now, i never visited any local food court Kopitiams. Few years back i had Teh tarik, when we went with a group of friends to toast box, after a morning run. When we were kids, amma used to make tea with milk and whenever we have condensed milk at home, after making some kheers, she will pour some hot water to the tin and add it to the boiling milk tea. This tea will be thick and the taste will be awesome. Those days buying condensed milk is very rare and we will look forward to that too.
Very recently, when i accompanied one of our friend to a hospital, after the consultation, we went to the Kopitiam inside the hospital campus. I ordered this Teh  and since it was an open kitchen, saw the guy making the tea. He made it in 2 minutes and it really tasted very nice. I had a tin of condensed milk at home and tried it this morning. I could say it tasted so perfect to the one served in the cafe. When you plan to make any payasam recipe using condensed milk, try out this teh at home.
In traditional teh tarik, after adding all the ingredients they will bring it to froth, which they call pulled tea. But i haven't seen that here in Singapore, but feel free to froth it up if you wish that way.
Disclaimer: I don't claim that it is the authentic way of making Teh tarik. If you have any tips or variations on this recipe please share in comments section

Those days we are never exposed to any aerated or bottle juices. Also we have 4 coconut trees in the house and we used to get fresh organic ilaneer from the home grown trees. Stay hydrated in the summer by taking home made summer coolers.
