Generally we use home made rice flour or idiyappam flour for making kozhukattai. I have posted different ways of making kozhakattai maavu. This recipe is made using raw rice, that is the outer poornam is made by grinding the soaked rice into a wet batter. This method gives really super soft kozhukattais and you never get lumps in the dough. Read the entire post thoroughly and go through the tips to get a perfect super soft kozhukattais. The same base works out well for ulundu kozhukattai as well.

Mango rasayana recipe, Mango recipes

Mango rasayana recipe, an easy no cook mango recipe, made using ripe mango, coconut milk and jaggery. The recipe is originally an Udipi style one, made using banana and mangoes. I have heard about this lot but never tasted or tried at home. This mango seekarane is similar to Aamras. Coconut milk and mango makes a nice combo, which i have tasted in Thai sticky mango rice. Two days back, when i was invited by my friend to her house for lunch, her mom made a delicious spread. The Udippi style food was too good and finally we had this mango rasayana for dessert. Being an avid mango lover, i shamelessly, over loaded myself with 2 servings of this delicious dessert. I wanted to make this at home for my family. Tried this today and everyone loved it. We had Aloo parathas for dinner and had this mango rasayana as a dessert. Check out my full collection of Mango recipes.
I used super sweet Alphonso mangoes from Wildseed Singapore for making this Mango rasayana recipe.

Needless to say this is the best neivedyam for Navarati and other traditional festivals.
The addition of milk in this sweet candy pongal makes it more creamier and delicious. You can add some condensed milk in the last to enhance the richness and taste.
I got the Sugar candy | Kalkandu from Sri Murugan stores Singapore. They have both the small and big variety of Kalkandu. Since i used the big variety for making my kalakandu pongal with rice, i chose the small diamond kalkandu. Sri murugan stores has a wide range of Indian grocery and even the millet i used for this pongal is got from there. They deliver island wide and order can be placed through Sri Murugan Android and iOs app too.

Sweet ammini kozhukattai recipe, Ganesh chaturthi recipes

Sweet ammini kozhukattai, mani kozhakattais made using left over kozhukattai dough and sweet poornam. We always make spicy version of ammini kozhukattai and it is my personal favorite too. I have posted 2 varieties of spicy ammini kozhukattai, but want to give it a try on sweet version too. This Ganesh Chaturthi 2018, i wanted to post some simple kozhakattai recipes. Recently i met a bachelor friend, who was telling that she wants to make modak as she loves it but don't have the patience or time to sit and do the shape. I told her to use the modakam mould which is quite easy. She immediately told that she doesn't have the mould too. After coming home, i was thinking about that then the idea of sweet ammini kozhukattai, which i have seen in many websites came to my mind. Definitely in no way it will match the traditional modakam, but to satiate the cravings of the kozhukattai, you can try this one. You can use store bought rice flour or idiyappam flour for making this. If you live in a place where you won't get fresh coconut, you follow the poornam recipe, following my modakam using desiccated coconut. Enjoy the festival without missing the festival food.

Dry fruits poli, How to make poli easy method

No sugar added poli

Dry fruits poli, a no sugar less oil Indian dessert recipe, a healthy version of poli, recipe with step by step pictures. Poli also called as Obattu, Holige, puran poli, vermi in different languages, is a sweet loaded with ghee. The stuffing inside the polis varies from place to place as South Indians, Maharastrians use chana dal and gujaratis use Toor dal. Apart from these traditional polis we also make different varieties of poli with our own creative ideas. I have posted carrot poli, thenga poli apart from the traditional ones with chana dal and the Maharastrian style puran poli. I still remember the way amma and patti makes poli loaded with oil and a super delicious soft polis. They make in huge batches and even distribute to our neighbors too. I don't claim an expert in making polis like the same way she makes, but i can make decent polis. It is more you gain mastery over it by practice. As i do it only once a year for aavani avittam and that too in a very small quantity, my output will not match her level of excellence.
As we all are becoming health conscious and running out of time when any festival falls on a week day. But still we want to follow the traditions too and i am seeing many young girls around the world are so enthusiastic in doing all the delicacies on a festival day.
I am no sure whether diabetic patients can consume dates and nuts, so i don't claim this diabetic friendly sweets but you can call no sugar added sweet. Try this relatively healthy version of poli and enjoy the festival. Also check out my

Caramel Popcorn recipe

Caramel popcorn, home made caramel popcorn recipe, with step by step pictures, using dry corn kernels and sugar. Popcorn is the one we always enjoy during movies. When we were kids we used to get popcorns outside theaters in small packets and mostly i have tasted the salted version of popcorn. Later when the multiplex theaters started we used to get a variety of popcorn. Though i don't prefer sweet version of popcorn my kids love the caramel popcorn. I have made caramel popcorn for them at home twice but never clicked the pictures to post the recipe. Yesterday while organising the kitchen shelfs found some little corn kernels and thought i will make the caramel popcorn for kids snack box. They loved it very much and packed few extra for their friends too. I have seen many adding roasted peanuts to this caramel popcorn, being a peanut lover i am too tempted to do this but i thought i will post a separate caramel peanut urundai or chikki recipe.
