Mint Onion chutney recipe, chutney recipes

Mint Onion chutney recipe with video
Mint onion chutney, without coconut, a South Indian chutney made with small onions and mint, pairs well with idli, dosa and even chapati too. I have already posted onion chutney recipe, this is similar to that with the addition of mint leaves. Even a small variation in the ingredients gives a very nice twist and change in the taste. We always break our head as what chutney to make for idli dosa, though we know many varieties of chutney still look for new ones. This Mint Onion chutney is a tasty mint flavored chutney pairs well with Idli dosa and also for chapati too. Check out my full collection of Side dish for IDLI DOSA.

Jigarthanda recipe, learn how to make jigarthanda with video.
Jigarthanda recipe, a popular drink in Madurai, made using milk, badam pisin and nannari syrup. Being born and brought up in Madurai, i have tasted this jil jil jigarthanda in a famous shop in Vilkuthoon area. After started living in Chennai, when Madurai Murugan idli kadai was opened in Chennai, tasted there few times. But after moving to Singapore, never had a chance to taste the authentic delicious Madurai famous Jil jil jigarthanda. Though we get in Murugan idli kadai Singapore, the taste still can not match the original one. Even the recipe i have given here is not authentic, but it tasted almost closer to the one we get in Madurai. For a long time i wanted to post this recipe of jigarthanda but i never happened to find Badam pisin here. Finally saw that in Sri Murugan stores Singapore.

Raw mangoes somehow we get so often in Singapore, as it is in season everywhere i wanted to post recipes using raw mango too. Generally we make South Indian version of  raw mango rice, but this is a North Indian pulao recipe and it tasted so yum too. I just came across this name of Raw mango pulao in a restaurant menu very long back and just noted down the name. While going through that notebook, i was reminded of that and just tried it randomly and it was well received by every one at home. The crunchiness of the cashew nuts complimented the mango pulao and it paired well with Dabba style dal.

Mango Sandwich recipe, with fresh ripe mango and green chutney. When i got my first batch of ripe mangoes from India, the friend who brought it for me told that they make mango sandwich using ripe alphonso mangoes. She said it is very simple as just butter both sides of the bread and slit the mangoes into thin long slices and cover with another bread and serve. I was about to try this, but when i saw some left over green chutney in the refrigerator, i decided to try it along with green chutney. Some how i felt it will taste nice and it didn't disappoint me, it turned out well. Check out my full collection of mango recipes.  Stay tuned for more mango recipes coming up.

Vendakkai Sambar recipe,Ladies finger sambar

Vendakkai sambar, ladies finger sambar recipe, with fresh ground sambar masala. We make Sambar with onion, drumstick, capsicum, yellow pumpkin, brinjal and other veggies. But Vendakkai Sambar is the family's favorite and Suresh loves it the most. Also we use home made sambar powder for making sambar, even it is arachuvitta sambar, we use sambar podi. But i have seen many of my relatives make arachivitta sambar without using sambar podi. I wanted to give this a try for a long time and my co sister's mom clarified my silly doubts and this sambar is a super hit at my place. This recipe is a keeper, you can make this for festivals as it is a no onion no garlic recipe and also doesn't use any mill ground  sambar powder. I was totally hooked by the aroma of the Vendakkai sambar.
Varuthuaracha sambar and udipi sambar  also uses only fresh masala but the coconut is dominant in the sambar masala for one and for the other we add sesame seeds. The taste is completely different for both the sambar.  Even the quantity of one ingredient changes the taste of the entire recipe.

Mango dhokla recipe, mango recipes

Mango dhokla recipe, gujarati khaman dhokla made using fresh mango puree. These mango dhoklas tasted so yummy. When i saw mango dhokla in Instagram, i was too fascinated by it as i am a big fan of both mango and dhokla.  At the same time i was bit skeptical as how it would taste. So it tried in very minimum quantity as i don't want to waste my precious organic Mangoes. But it turned out too good and i just kept 2 pieces for the family to try it out. I want to make this again for us during this weekend. I couldn't stay away from gobbling it. It didn't give any odd sweet taste. These dhoklas were too mango flavourful and at the same time gave the taste of dhoklas too. I adapted the recipe of Gujarati Khaman dhokla from Tarla dalal's space and just replaced water with mango puree. I can say this Mango Dhokla is a must try recipe for this mango season.

Instant Cucumber Dosa recipe

Instant cucumber dosa | Southekayi dosa using rice flour and cucumber, super quick to make South Indian breakfast. Cucumber dosa is a popular North Karnataka recipe, i have heard about this a lot. Generally they make it using rice, the traditional way, by soaking, grinding and fermenting the dosa batter. But this cucumber dosa is made using rice flour and a super quick fix breakfast recipe. As cucumber has lot of water content in it this is a perfect recipe for this summer. Generally they grate the cucumber and add in the dosa, but i grind this along with other ingredients, so that the kids will eat without any fuss.
I got this recipe from my friend who taught me the raw mango rasam recipe.
