Kothamalli Thogayal | Coriander thogayal is a simple recipe made using coriander leaves, red chili and coconut as main ingredients. We generally make pudina thogayal, kothamalli thogayal, paruppu thogayal, thengai thogayal at home. Green moong dal vada recipe, using split green moong dal, crispy no onion no garlic recipe, perfect snack during navaratri days. Few months back when i called my friends for Varalakshmi pooja, this  green moong dal  vada is a part of the menu. I have already posted moong dal bhajiya | pakora but that recipe includes potato and onion. This split green moong vada was a super hit and i served it with coconut chutney. South Indian style Kara kuzhambu recipe using fresh sundakkai | turkey berry. Sundakkai | turkey berry, generally we make Sundakkai vatha kuzhambu using dried turkey berries. But this Kara kuzhambu recipe is using fresh sundakkai, we call it as pachai sundakkai. Sundakkai i have used in Sambar and also tasted in bisibelabath too. I still remember plucking fresh sundakkai from the garden in my uncle's house and my chitti used to put that in sambar and bisibelabath. As kids we are not a big fan of sundakkai but later when i started cooking on my own, i started to eat all tastes of food. I have seen fresh turkey berries in the market these days and thought will post a recipe using sundakkai. And coincidentally a follower of Jeyashri's kitchen on Instagram, sent me the recipe of Sundakkai kara kuzhambu few days back. I picked fresh Sundakkai from the nearby Sri Murugan stores and made this kara kuzhambu for Sunday lunch. We all loved it and i didn't the feel much bitterness of the sundakkai and it was quite comfortable for me to eat that too. Do try this recipe at home and let me know how it turned out.

Paneer Masala recipe, a Dhaba style paneer masala an aromatic paneer gravy prepared by marinating paneer in basic spices and cooked in an onion tomato based semi gravy. I have noted this Dhaba style Paneer recipe from Chef Venkatesh Bhat show, 2 years back. I very rarely note down recipes, and this is one is among them. I tweaked the recipe to suit our taste buds. Yesterday while i was checking for something in my old note book, happened to see this recipe. I have a pack of fresh paneer at home and wanted to try out this paneer masala recipe. It was a super duper hit at home and kids loved it a lot. Do try this Dhaba style paneer masala at home and I am sure you will love it.

Jackfruit seed| Kathal seeds| Chakkakuru| Palakottai, is the seed inside the jackfruit, which many people discard after eating jackfruit. During our childhood days, we used to get boiled jackfruit seeds in a road side shop nearby our school. I don't know how they make, but they taste so yum. Amma always scold us not to eat from there and say it is just boiled one which i can make it at home. But it will never taste the same. Sometimes amma puts the palakottai in Sambar or in kootu too. But i hate that in all other forms, the one they sell outside the school tops among all. Recently i came across this cutlet using jack fruit seeds. Here in Singapore, we get bunch of jackfruit seeds in Indian shops. I have seen this many times, but never bought them. Few days back i picked it up from Sri Murugan trading, and tried out this Jackfruit cutlet. It was a super duper hit at home and no one can make out the taste of the seeds.

Kollu kara chutney, recipe with step by step pictures and video. Kara chutney made using kollu| horsegram, shallots, tomato and red chili as main ingredients, pairs well with idli, dosa. I came across this interesting Kara chutney recipe with kollu in a tamil magazine and saved it long time back. While i was searching was something in my mobile, this chutney caught my attention. I tried the chutney and it was very tasty. No one can find out that kollu is added in this kara chutney. We had it with dosa and it was quite delicious. Kara Ammini Kozhakattai recipe, Ganesh Chathurthi recipes

Kara ammini kozhukattai using store bought rice flour with video and step by step pictures. We always use home made rice flour or idiyappam flour to make kozhukattai maavu. I have already posted the 4 ways of making kozhukattai maavu. I got few queries from readers regarding, making of kozhukattai dough using store bought rice flour. Though i have tried once, but vaguely remember about the output. So i wanted to try it once. Since i wanted to make a post, i chose the recipe of kara ammini kozhukattai recipe. I have already posted 2 spicy versions of ammini kozhukattai and aone sweet version of ammini kozhukattai. This one is one more version of spicy kozhukattai, where we mix red chili powder to the dough itself and steam them. They tasted so yum and it is a healthy snack too.

Sweet ammini kozhukattai, mani kozhakattais made using left over kozhukattai dough and sweet poornam. We always make spicy version of ammini kozhukattai and it is my personal favorite too. I have posted 2 varieties of spicy ammini kozhukattai, but want to give it a try on sweet version too. This Ganesh Chaturthi 2018, i wanted to post some simple kozhakattai recipes. Recently i met a bachelor friend, who was telling that she wants to make modak as she loves it but don't have the patience or time to sit and do the shape. I told her to use the modakam mould which is quite easy. She immediately told that she doesn't have the mould too. After coming home, i was thinking about that then the idea of sweet ammini kozhukattai, which i have seen in many websites came to my mind. Definitely in no way it will match the traditional modakam, but to satiate the cravings of the kozhukattai, you can try this one. You can use store bought rice flour or idiyappam flour for making this. If you live in a place where you won't get fresh coconut, you follow the poornam recipe, following my modakam using desiccated coconut. Enjoy the festival without missing the festival food.

Whole wheat coconut cookies recipe with step by step pictures, crispy coconut cookies. Some time back i tasted a coconut cookies from Haldirams and it was too delicious. I have posted an eggless coconut cookies recipe few years ago. Few days back while meeting up with some friends, they were talking about the celebration of Ganpati in their place. Generally in South India we make modakam, ulundu kozhukattai, sundal, vadai and payasam for Ganesh Chaturthi. But in Maharastra, apart from making the traditional Ukadiche modak, they make varieties of sweets, pedas and even cookies for this festival. Also i have seen kids cut birthday cake for Ganesha. I really love the way kids do the pooja everyday and enjoy the festivity. Though i have few innovative ideas for kozhakkati stufing, i am pretty sure, they are hardly tried by anyone at home as we make only the traditional stuff.
