MILK PEDA WITH MILK POWDER AND CONDENSED MILK
Milk peda | Paal peda |Dhoodh peda is a very simple and easy dessert made with milk. If you are running out of time but still wanted to try out an easy sweet then this milk peda is the exactly perfect sweet for you. The entire process can be done in Microwave oven but since i don’t have microwave oven i made it in the stove top. It took less than 10 minutes for me for the entire process. Check out my badam peda recipe . See my full collection of diwali recipes
INGREDEINTS:(YIELDS : 35 - 40 PEDAS)
MILK POWDER | 2 CUPS |
CONDENSED MILK | 1 CAN (395GMS) |
SAFFRON | A PINCH(OPTIONAL) |
BUTTER | GHEE | 2 TBLSP + 2 TSP |
METHOD:
- Soak the saffron in a tblsp of warm milk for 10 minutes.
- In a wide non stick pan, combine the condensed milk and milk powder and mix it into a smooth paste without any lumps. It should be like a thick idli batter.
- Add butter | ghee to this and start mixing them on a low flame.
- Add the saffron milk to this and mix well without getting it burnt .
- I added a pinch of Everest Milk masala to get an enhanced flavor.
- After 7-8 minutes the mixture will come out like a soft ball without sticking to the bottom.
- Stop the flame and allow it to become warm.
- Grease your hands with butter | ghee and grease the chapathi rolling stick too.
- Grease the base as well and knead the mass of peda and roll it into a circle of your desired thickness.
- I wanted to get a perfect shape so adapted this easy way and made cute shapes with cookie cutter. Thank u so much Nags for the cookie cutter ,i loved the cute edges.
- If you don’t have the cookie cutter you can just make small balls and flatten it.
Note:
- Do not cook till it becomes a hard mass, just take it when it gathers a mass by not sticking to the bottom. When it is cools down slightly it will be thick.
- If it is too thick the pedas will be hard. In that case, just sprinkle few drops of milk and knead it and make pedas.
- I added saffron to get the kesar flavor, you can add a tblsp of cococa powder to get chocolate peda or you can cardamom powder to get a nice cardamom flavor.
- My friend told when she tried in microwave and she used 1 and 3/4 cup of milk powder.
- This can be stored in the refrigerator for a week

ReplyDeleteHi Jeyashri, I am a big fan of your recipes and have tried several dishes from your website. but this one was ruined :( You had mentioned 2 cups of Milk powder for one can of condensed milk. 1 cup is 200 ml for me and I was assuming its the same worldwide and added 2 cups according to recipe. Looks like you meant only 200 ml of milk powder in total.
ReplyDeletePlease , one suggestion , always add weight measurement and not cups measurement in your recipes, this will help us a lot. Thank you and wish you a happy deepavali.
hi,
DeleteEven my 1 cup is 200 ml only. don't know how it didn't worked out well for you. Will consider your suggestion and try to add both the measurements in the recipes soon..
Wish u a very happy diwali
Can cocoa powder be added to this to make chocolate burfi ?
ReplyDeleteYou can very well add cocoa powder to the burfi. But please add after taking it from the flame. Add 1 - 2 tblsp for the above mentioned recipe. If added while cooking it will taste bitter.
DeleteIf you add more also it will be bitter
hi jeyashri .iam a big fan for your recipes.can I using instant nonfat dry milkpowder for milk peda recipes please canu tell me.
ReplyDeletethanks for the message. I haven't used the non fat dry milk powder. But i think you can use it. Will come out well
DeleteVery simple and very tasty pedas. When I am searching for a sweet to be made by myself for this Depavali for my family I select this one. Thank You vey much.
ReplyDeleteWhen I wish to make a sweet by my self for this Depavali for my family, I select this one. Very simple and attractive. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteI want to reduce it to half serving size (about 20 pedas) . Should I reduce the ingredients to half? 1 cup milk powder, 1/2 can condensed milk ? The directions should still be the same right? or reduce the cooking time too?
ReplyDeleteThank you
Yes you can reduce the ingredients. Cooking time same
DeleteHi Jayshree
ReplyDeletewhen am rolling its stiking in the rolling board and perfect shape is not comming..
don't worry, add little more milk powder and saute in kadai for some time. You will get it for sure. Depends on the texture of milk powder
DeleteWow jeya...so easy preparation.my son wanted it today. Thanks dear for sharing.
ReplyDeleteShobas Delight.
Jeya ji,
ReplyDeleteI tried this recipe this weekend ... but I dont know what happened - my pedas got struct to the plate and when tried to take it was sticky sticky.
So kept in fridge - here they became hard like stones and was very difficult to remove them from container.
Can you please tell me what was missed over here.
Thank you
Aarthi Dhinesh
Hi aarti,
DeleteThanks for the message. Did you add butter while cooking. Even i was wondering where you must have went wrong. Becoz, this recipe i have tried few times and never failed too. May be becoz of the texture of milk powder. When you cooked on pan, will you be able to take it out from the pan?
Hiiii truly a mouthwatering desert:)....just love its texture...is it sweetened or unsweetened milk powder???
ReplyDeleteHi pratyusha , it is sweetened milk powder
ReplyDeleteI Tried this one. But it is sticky . do u have any remedy
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteJust add some more milkpowder, will be perfect
Hi Jeyashri,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting awesome recipes. I made this milk peda today. Everything came out good but i could not roll or use a cookie cutter. I made small balls and flattened it. What should i do to make it perfect looking like Yours. Thank you. Jay.
Texture varies from milk powder to milk powder. Try adding little more milk powder, you will get it for sure
DeleteHi Jeyashri, I am unable to get milk powder from Indian stores. But in Walmart and other grocery stores they carry only Instant Nonfat Dry Milk powder.but you used nespray milk powder which is full fat milk powder. Can i use nonfat milk powder?if i use will it be any taste difference from dry whole milk powder?and kindly suggest some other brand names for dry whole milk powder to buy.
ReplyDeleteI think it will not make much difference to the peda. You can give it a try
DeleteThanks Jeyashri.
DeleteMy cup is 160ml how much should I put mam?
ReplyDeleteYou can add 2 and 1/2 cups, minus 2 tblsp of milk powder
DeleteHi shri, looks so yummy.. i made this tdy... i got the shape perfect but tastes bit chewy.. wat went wrong for me..
ReplyDeleteHi ramya, it is the nature of the milkpowder makes it chewy. You did it right only. Try my kesar badam peda recipe. You won't get the chewy texture in that peda.
DeleteThanks much for ur reply.. will def try it soon😊
ReplyDeleteHi...
ReplyDeleteI have 400 ml condensed milk and 200gm of milk powder. Can I add both same proportion or can I reduce the portion of milk powder?
You can reduce the condensed milk to half tin for 200 gm milk powder.
