MILK PEDA |PAAL PEDA RECIPE | EASY DIWALI SWEETS RECIPES

MILK PEDA WITH MILK POWDER AND CONDENSED MILK

Milk peda
Milk peda | Paal peda |Dhoodh peda  is a very simple and easy dessert made with milk. If you are running out of time but still wanted to try out an easy sweet then this milk peda is the exactly perfect sweet for you. The entire process can be done in Microwave oven but since i don’t have microwave oven i made it in the stove top. It took less than 10 minutes for me for the entire process. Check out my badam peda recipe . See my full collection of diwali recipes

Milk Peda

INGREDEINTS:(YIELDS : 35 - 40 PEDAS)

MILK POWDER 2 CUPS
CONDENSED MILK 1 CAN (395GMS)
SAFFRON A PINCH(OPTIONAL)
BUTTER | GHEE 2 TBLSP + 2 TSP
Milk peda 3

METHOD:
  • Soak the saffron in a tblsp of warm milk for 10 minutes.

  • In a wide non stick pan, combine the condensed milk and milk powder and mix it into a smooth paste without any lumps. It should be like a thick idli batter.
  • Add butter | ghee to this and start mixing them on a low flame.
IMG_0325 IMG_0326
  • Add the saffron milk to this and mix well without getting it burnt .
  • I added a pinch of Everest Milk masala to get an enhanced flavor.
  • After 7-8 minutes the mixture will come out like a soft ball without sticking to the bottom.

  • Stop the flame and allow it to become warm.
  • Grease your hands with butter | ghee and grease the chapathi rolling stick too.
  • Grease the base as well and knead the mass of peda and roll it into a circle  of your desired thickness.

  • I wanted to get a perfect shape so adapted this easy way and made cute shapes with cookie cutter. Thank u so much Nags for the cookie cutter ,i loved the cute edges.
  • If you don’t have the cookie cutter you can just make small balls and flatten it.
Milk peda recipe
Note:
  1. Do not cook till it becomes a hard mass, just take it when it gathers a mass by not sticking to the bottom. When it is cools down slightly it will be thick.
  2. If it is too thick the pedas will be hard. In that case, just sprinkle few drops of milk and knead it and make pedas.
  3. I added saffron to get the kesar flavor, you can add a tblsp of cococa powder to get chocolate peda or you can cardamom powder to get a nice cardamom flavor.
  4. My friend told when she tried in microwave and she used 1 and 3/4 cup of milk powder.
  5. This can be stored in the refrigerator for a week
Check out this Badam Peda which i have tried from Priya's space long back.

  39. Hi Jeyashri, I am a big fan of your recipes and have tried several dishes from your website. but this one was ruined :( You had mentioned 2 cups of Milk powder for one can of condensed milk. 1 cup is 200 ml for me and I was assuming its the same worldwide and added 2 cups according to recipe. Looks like you meant only 200 ml of milk powder in total.
Please , one suggestion , always add weight measurement and not cups measurement in your recipes, this will help us a lot. Thank you and wish you a happy deepavali.

    1. hi,
Even my 1 cup is 200 ml only. don't know how it didn't worked out well for you. Will consider your suggestion and try to add both the measurements in the recipes soon..
Wish u a very happy diwali

  40. Can cocoa powder be added to this to make chocolate burfi ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can very well add cocoa powder to the burfi. But please add after taking it from the flame. Add 1 - 2 tblsp for the above mentioned recipe. If added while cooking it will taste bitter.
If you add more also it will be bitter

  44. I want to reduce it to half serving size (about 20 pedas) . Should I reduce the ingredients to half? 1 cup milk powder, 1/2 can condensed milk ? The directions should still be the same right? or reduce the cooking time too?
    Thank you

    1. Hi aarti,
Thanks for the message. Did you add butter while cooking. Even i was wondering where you must have went wrong. Becoz, this recipe i have tried few times and never failed too. May be becoz of the texture of milk powder. When you cooked on pan, will you be able to take it out from the pan?

    1. Hi ramya, it is the nature of the milkpowder makes it chewy. You did it right only. Try my kesar badam peda recipe. You won't get the chewy texture in that peda.
