Millet capsicum rice recipe,with video. Millet capsicum rice with Idli Molagapodi, a perfect lunch box recipe. Recently when we went for a day trip to a nearby island with friends,one of them was casually sharing about this Capsicum rice with idli molagapodi. It was quite interesting and i immediately tried it the next day and posted in Jeyashris kitchen Instagram. The recipe uses Varagu millet and you can replace with any millet of your choice. You can replace millet with rice too. The flavour of the molagapodi pairs very well with the rice and millet. I have already posted Capsicum rice recipe using Sambar powder. Varagu | Kodo millet 1/4 cup
Capsicum 3 tbslp (chopped)
Onion 1
Oil 3 tsp
Mustard 1/4 tsp
Peanuts 1 tblsp
Curry leaves few
Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
Idli molagapodi 1 and 1/4 tsp
Salt as needed
Garam masala 1/4 tsp
Ghee 1 tsp
Method:
Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook time: 25 mins | serves: 1 | Author: Jeyashri
Varagu | Kodo millet 1/4 cup
Capsicum 3 tbslp (chopped)

Oil 3 tsp
Mustard 1/4 tsp
Peanuts 1 tblsp
Curry leaves few
Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
Idli molagapodi 1 and 1/4 tsp
Salt as needed
Garam masala 1/4 tsp
Ghee 1 tsp
Method:
- Cook the millet in 1/4 cup of water in pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles.
- Fluff the rice and spread it in a plate.
- In a pan add oil and add in the mustard seeds, urad dal and peanuts.
- Saute till the dal turns golden brown.
- Add the onions now. Finely chop the onions for the capsicum rice.
- Saute till the onions turn translucent.
- Add finely chopped capsicum. You can add any color capsicum of mix of tri color capsicum too.
- Cook for 2 mins. Ensure that the capsicum is crunchy.
- Add the red chili powder, salt, garam masala and molagapodi one by one.
- Saute in a low flame for 2 minutes.
- Now add the cooked millets. You can replace millets with rice too.
- Mix well.
- Add the ghee and switch off the flame.
- Capsicum podi rice is ready to serve. You can pack this for lunch box too.

Notes:
- Add molagapodi according to your spice level.
- Ensure that the millet is cooked separate grains. Do no cook it mushy.
- Do not skip the ghee,it gives an awesome flavor to the millet capsicum rice.
