Red chutney for chaat, Red garlic chutney, recipe with 2 version of chutney with 2 versions of red garlic chutney. The usual method that we all follow by soaking dried red chilis and another is using red chili powder. I have tried the second version of using red chili powder few times and it is a super hit recipe too. I learnt this from a gujarati friend, who shared with me the recipe of Bajra vadi. Once i have tasted Bhel puri chaat in her house and she added red chutney in that and it was totally awesome. I am planning to post Dahi batata puri recipe, so i thought i will share this recipe of red chutney for chaat first, before i post the chaat recipe.

Red chutney for chaat
- Recipe Cusine: Indian
- Prep Time: 10 Minutes
- Cook time: 5 Minutes
- Serves: 1/2 cup
- Author: Jeyashri
- Recipe Category: Condiments
- Description: Red chutney for chaat, Red garlic chutney, recipe with 2 version of chutney with 2 versions of red garlic chutney..
Dried Red chili 8
Garlic 7 cloves
Lemon juice 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Version 2
Red chili powder 1 tblsp
Ghee 3 tsp
Sugar 1 tsp
Garlic 10 cloves
Lemon juice 1 tsp
Method with step by step pictures :
Version 1:
- Soak the Dried red chili in hot water for 10 minutes. I used kashmiri red chili, if using normal red chili take out the seeds inside before soaking.
- After 10 minutes, take out the chilis from water and grind this along with garlic and salt.
- You can use the water which we soaked, while grinding.
- Squeeze the lemon juice. Mix well.
- Store this in a clean dry bowl.
- This red chutney can be stored for 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
Version 2
- In a mixie grind the red chili powder, garlic, lemon juice, sugar into a smooth paste.
- Add little water while grinding.
- Heat a pan and add ghee to this.
- Add the ground paste to this.
- Cook for 2 minutes.
- The addition of ghee is to lessen the heat from the red chili powder.
- I personally felt this version is very tasty.
Stay tuned for a chaat recipe coming up soon in Jeyashri's kitchen. And friends in Singapore, do register for the cookery competition, and it's a excellent opportunity to showcase your kid's talent.
