SODHI RECIPE | TIRUNELVELI SODHI KUZHAMBU

Sodhi recipe is a popular gravy from the district of Tirunelveli,a  town in Tamilnadu . I have been asked by many readers to post this sodhi kuzhambu here for a long time. Though i have heard about this from my mom, never tasted or tried at home. It is similar to the Vegetable stew recipe which we make for aapam. Though there are few versions in the sodhi recipe, i am posting a simple version of Tirunelveli sodhi kuzhambu. This goes very well with aapam, idiyappam and even dosa too.

SWEET CHAPATHI RECIPE| TRIANGLE PARATHA

Chapathi, my mom used to make it very rarely when we are kids. Dosa will be the most  made tiffin at home and we all enjoy dosa like anything. Chapathis amma will make once in a month when she has off day. Though appa is diabetic, she makes more of Godhuma dosa , also he doesn't like chapathi much. Even if she makes chapathi,veg kurma will be the only side dish she knows to make and later she learnt channa masala from my athai. Sometimes she makes simple onion tomato gravy or coconut chutney too. We used to scold her if she makes coconut chutney for chapathi. But nowadays i like that combo.  But whenever she makes chapathi, she makes this sweet chapathi for us and it is our most favourite one too. My paati makes this sweet chapathi in triangle shape and mom do it in round shape. My mil makes regular chapathi like triangle parathas and later we changed it to phulkas as they are healthy.
 Few days back when me and my hubby were talking about the childhood food memories, we both remembered about this sakkara chapathi . So i thought i will post this recipe here. RASGULLA RECIPE | SPONGY BENGALI RASGULLA RECIPE

Rasgulla | a popular bengali recipe , i wanted to post here for a long time. Though i have tried this few times, never had a chance to post this here. I have many requests from readers to post the rasgulla recipe , so finally today i am posting the popular spongy bengali rasgulla. I learnt this recipe from my cousin, who makes rasgulla extremely well. She was here with us this week and she instructed me in making this sweet. We all enjoyed the rasgullas a lot. MILLET CUCUMBER LASSI RECIPE | MILLET RECIPES

Lassi , whether it is sweet or salt, is the most healthy and welcoming drink all time. I have already posted the recipe of  masala chaas here . When i posted vazhaithandu mor i have this idea in mind. . This cucumber lassi with millet is a very healthy one and quite filling too. I made this kuthiraivali | Barnyard millet. You can try with varagu, thinai or samai too. even can make with Oats too. Try this millet cucumber lassi and stay hydrated this summer.

Mangalore buns are traditional recipe of Mangalore | Udipi cusine. They are generally served for breakfast or as a tea time snack .I am introduced to these mangalore buns by my friend here. When her mom was here last year she made this and sent it for me too. It tasted very nice and from then i wanted to give it a try. Also i have another mangalorean friend, who  makes this buns so nice . She shared her version of mangalore bun recipe with me. So finally i tried this last week and it tasted the very nice too. The mangalore buns are basically banana pooris served with spicy sambar or Coconut chutney.

Sevai | Idiyapam is a popular south Indian breakfast recipe. We make different varities of sevai at home. Recently when i was talking with a friend she was telling that her mil makes podi sevai , that is sevai with idli molagapodi. Since it  sounded easy and interesting, i thought i will share this recipe in this bachelors recipe series. Recently a friend of mine sent me 2 packets of Idiyappam maavu from Karaikudi, the chettinadu region of South Tamil nadu famous for idiyappam. The flour was awesome and the string hoppers | idiyappam came out very well. I reserved a portion of that to make this molagapodi sevai. Even you can make this with instant sevai too. MUNG BEAN POPSICLE RECIPE | MOONG BEAN ICE CANDY

     Mung bean ice candy is a popular one in Malaysia and Singapore. I came to know about this first when we came to Singapore and a malay lady used to bring this to the playground and distribute it to the kids. Also the kids gets lot of flavours in ice candy in school. As how we make rose milk popsicle, orange juice popsicle, plain milk popsicle this can be made using popsicle moulds too. Last year summer also i ws looking for this covers but couldn't get it.  I got this through my friend who visited Malaysia a few weeks back. Thanks to rubini who got this for me all the way from Malaysia. Also she told she got this ice candy covers in a shop in Toa payoh too. So again i started searching for that in nearby Chinese shops. Hurray finally i found this SKP , its a chain of stores in Singapore selling all plastic disposable covers, plates etc. For all my Singapore readers , those who are searching where to get these candy popscile covers in Singapore, we have a lot of SKP OUTLETS IN SINGAPORE.  So whereever you are you can easily find this store and ask them the ice candy covers.
