Yogurt Brownies recipe| Chocolate brownies

Yogurt brownies recipe with video

Yogurt brownies|Chocolate brownies, almost fat free brownies as no butter or oil is used in this recipe. These brownies were tasted awesome and when it is approved by kids then we can call it as a no fail yogurt brownies recipe. Now a days i am slowly reducing the consumption of store bought biscuits. I try to bake some healthy goodies at home for the kids snack box. Even sometimes if i use plain flour,at least i feel it is better than the store bought biscuits and cakes. When they wanted something chocolate based, i decided to make Chocolate brownies for them. This recipe attracted me a lot as it doesn't involve any butter or oil in this. The yogurt only gives the smooth texture to the fudge brownies. I used Alvas Natural curd to make this Yogurt brownies.

Hummus recipe | Home made hummus

Hummus is a popular Mediterranean chickpeas dip, quite simple to make at home. I tasted this for the first time in a restaurant here in Singapore along with falafel and Pita bread. Later when i attended the cookery demo by Master Chef Nikita Gandhi, she taught Methi hummus recipe. But most of the hummus recipes use Tahini in it. The tahini we get here is expensive and comes in large bottles which is too big for a small family. Last year when we visited a friend for dinner, she made hummus and served with store bought Pita bread. It tasted so well. She told she didn't add Tahini and just added roasted sesame seeds. Later i totally forgot it,recently when we visited a Mediterranean restaurant here in Singapore,we had this Hummus along with other dips. I had some frozen chickpeas at home and immediately tried it today. It tasted so awesome and we had with store bought Tortilla chips. You can make this with Canned Chickpeas too.

Thai style noodles recipe | millet noodles

Thai style vegetarian noodles recipe, using Millet noodles, with video and step by step pictures. I wanted to post the popular Pad thai noodles. recipe. But the authentic pad thai recipe use fish sauce and other ingredients which i don't think i use in daily cooking. Generally i make hakka noodles for the kids using plain noodles or spaghetti. Rice noodles is not liked by kids so generally,i make South Indian sevai only using Rice noodles. I have tried the Vegetarian Bee hoon recipe using the brown rice noodles. This thai style style noodles recipe is bit different from Bee hoon,as it uses peanut butter in it. The sauce base which we use for this Thai veg noodles is quite interesting and it tasted so awesome too. The peanut butter didn't taste very strong in this recipe,so if you don't like the flavor of peanut butter also, you will like it. I tried this using Millet noodles recipe. Kids loved this and didn't found any difference.
Pad thai noodles

 For my readers in Singapore

They have outlets in Syed Alwi road and the new Sri Murugan plus opened in Simei also have a wide variety of groceries and fresh vegetables. This can be cooked in 2 minutes and doesn't need any steaming. Just boil for 2 minutes, drain the water and proceed with the making of noodles. Will share another interesting noodles recipe using their Millet noodles. This noodles comes with a taste maker inside the packet. But i didn't use that one. And the best part is it is not over priced,a pack of 200 gm noodles costs,1.80 SGD. You can download Sri Murugan Mobile app (both android and iOs version) and get your grocery by home delivery.

Lassi is a very popular, traditional yogurt based drink in India. I have already posted Rose lassi, kesar lassi and few more yogurt based Indian drink recipes. Sometimes during summer, we don't tend to feel like standing in the kitchen for a long time but need something chill and filling for the tummy. This dry fruits lassi can be made on such days even for breakfast too.

Pepper paneer gravy recipe | Paneer recipes

Pepper paneer recipe in coconut milk gravy, a delicious paneer dish pairs well with naan| roti. I tasted this for the first time in Zaffron banana leaf restaurant in Singapore. When i was invited there for food tasting in August 2017, i tasted this pepper paneer(which is called as Paalkatti milgaai pirattal). I asked the Chief chef there about the recipe and it sounded so simple too. Later in October 2017, i attended a cookery demo by Chef. Damu in the restaurant and was taught the same recipe. I learnt the exact recipe from the chef himself and it tasted the same, when i tried it on that day. It is actually Chef's signature recipe, which is made using Prawns. But since i was the only vegetarian in that group, he told me to replace it with Paneer. Try this pepper paneer gravy recipe at home and i am sure you will love the chettinad version of paneer gravy.
This post i have drafted few months back, but didn't post. I generally keep one recipe post in reserve, which will help me on days when i have no time on my disposal to write a post. As Kids are having their term break holidays,i don't have much time to concentrate on my work. So this post comes as a breeze for me today.
Check out my other paneer recipes too.

Coconut hing chutney recipe | Hing chutney

Coconut hing chutney | Hing chutney, made using fresh coconut, tamarind and asafoetida as the main ingredients. This is a very popular Konkani style chutney, pairs very well with idli and dosa. I love this with chapathi too. One of my friend recently shared this recipe and i tried it at home and it was a super hit. The crunchiness of the coconut, taste of tamarind and the flavor of Asafoetida complimented the chutney. This chutney doesn't need any chutney dal,so if you have fresh coconut at home, just proceed with the recipe of making hing chutney, popularly called in Konkani regions. Though the recipe uses more of coconut, they call it as Hing chutney only. I made this Coconut hing chutney using SSP asafoetida. Move on the post to know more about SSP asafoetida.

Indian cooking uses asafoedita | hing | perungayam in most of their cooking. We South Indians mainly use asafoetida in Sambar and rasam and we strongly believe that perungayam gives flavor to the dishes. When SSP Asafoetida, leading manufacturer of perungayam in South India sent me their products for review,,i decided to make this chutney recipe. I have used SSP perungayam before,so i know the flavour of their product. Though it is slightly priced higher compared to other brands, but a very tiny pinch of  SSP asafoetida gives more flavour to the dish. So if a recipe calls for 1/4 tsp of asafoetida, when you are using SSP perungayam, you can use 1/8th tsp of it. Their products are available Amazon and for my readers in Singapore, you can buy from Saravana stores Singapore, located at Rangoon road. They have a wide range of products and i used Ultra powder asafoetida in this recipe. Check out the Amazon link to buy SSP products.

Suji ka halwa recipe | Sooji ka halwa

Suji ka halwa recipe with step by step pictures, a popular Indian Sweet made using Semolina, ghee and sugar. I have already posted the South Indian kesari recipe, this suji ka halwa is similar to that but there is  slight variation in measurements and methods. I have tasted this for the first time, when my North Indian friend invited Varsha for Ashtami and offered, Puri, suji ka halwa and channa for Navratri. The tradition itself is new to me. We South Indians celebrate Navratri and keep Golu. I was thinking to post the North Indian version of Suji ka halwa. When i called my friend she told, her in father in law is an expert in making this and told me to come over to take down the recipe from him. I happily went and uncle explained patiently the entire recipe and i noted it down and he patiently clarified all my silly doubts too. As now many North Indians are celebrating Chaitra Navratri this week, Saturday will be ashtami and this sooji ka halwa is made for that.

Poha Veg Fried rice recipe |Poha recipes

Rice flakes fried rice

Poha veg fried rice with Video, the popular Indo Chinese recipe made using rice and veggies. I replaced rice with poha| aval in tamil | rice flakes and it turned out quite well. As it is very simple and easy to make it is a bachelor friendly recipe too. Few months back when i was chatting with my cousin, she told she won a cookery competition, themed Poha recipes and Poha fried rice was made by her friend. The idea was so interesting and i wanted to try it at home. I got Getti aval | Thick poha from the nearby Indian shop and made it today. I served it for kids and was waiting for their feedback, but they were busy eating the fried rice. When i asked about them they said it is nice as always, and when i said it is made with poha and not rice, they were surprised. We couldn't find any difference with the addition of poha in the veg fried rice. Try this at home and let me know how it turned out. Also check:
