I have already posted Thinai cookies(foxtail millet cookies) The same recipe i used for this jowar cookies but used chocolate chip and replaced jaggery with Karupatti, palm jaggery. The cookies turned out so well and i felt so good for giving the kids a healthy snack. When i saw a pack of Karupatti, Pure Palm jaggery in Sri Murugan stores, i bought the small 200 gm packet. They have 500 gms packet as well. I decided to make Karupatti paniyaram and Karupatti appam but then i decided to make the cookies as i had a lot of jowar flour with me.

Chocolate chips 1 tblsp
Palm jaggery | Karupatti 2 tblsp
Oil 2 tblsp
Milk 2-4 tblsp
Baking soda a pinch
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Method:
- The palm jaggery i got from Sri Murugan comes in blocks, so i made it into powder using my rolling pin. It's quite easy to powder the karupatti.
- In a wide bowl, add the jowar flour, chocolate chips, Palm jaggery, baking soda, baking powder and oil.
- Mix well.
- Sprinkle the milk little by little and make it a pliable dough.
- Quantity of milk depends on the nature of the flour.
- Mine took 4 tblsp of milk.
- But when i made the same using foxtail millet cookies it was very less. So it depends on the flour too.
- Take a small portion of the dough and make it a ball and flatten it.
- If you want you can use a cookie cutter too.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Arrange the cookies, leaving little space between each other.
- Pre heat the oven for 5 minutes at 150 degrees.
- Bake in an oven for 10 minutes.
- Baking time vary from oven to oven
- The cookies were bit soft when i took it out. But when it is cool, it turned out very crispy.
- Enjoy this healthy cookies with tea.
