Radish masala recipe | Side dish for chapathi

Radish masala | mullangi masala is a easy and delicious gravy made with radish and serves as a perfect side dish for chapathi | roti and even for dosa too. It even goes will with jeera rice too. I learnt this recipe from my friend's mom. When i went to her house to learn the triangle samosa recipe, i saw her cooking this radish masala. I noted down the masala recipe and this recipe i have given in the Aval vikatan Supplement magazine which i gave in 2014. We always make make radish sambar, radish paratha and sometimes add in salads but this side dish for roti is quite simple and yum too. I have slightly altered the recipe given by aunty. Enjoy this radish masala and let me know how it turned out.

South Indian gravy recipes

Parangikaai- getti-kuzhambu

Parangikaai | pumpkin we used to put in sambar or vatha kuzhambu and personally i love parangikaai vatha kuzhambu very much. The natural sweetness of the parangikaai gives a delicious taste to the spicy south indian gravy. Recently when i was chatting with my friends, one of them shared the recipe of parangikai getti kuzhambu (thick gravy). The recipe sounded so easy and i have all the ingredients in hand and tried it on the same day. It was a super hit at home. I have shared this in jeyashris kitchen instagram too. Orange rasam recipe| Rasam recipe

Orange rasam

Orange rasam recipe is similar to the Kalyana rasam which i posted long back. Rasam is a staple food in the main course in every south Indian home. I have tried the Mountbatten Mani iyer's rasam, which was introduced to me through Rakesh of puliyogare travels, when we did the cookery show together in Singapore last year. I recently attended Mount mani iyer's cookery show in Chennai, in that he taught the same rasam replacing water melon with ilaneer(tender coconut water). The ilaneer rasam tasted very well too. As oranges are in season now, wanted to try the same rasam with orange juice. Believe me, the house was filled with awesome aroma of freshly ground rasam powder . When i posted the eeya chombu rasam in instagram yesterday, everyone was asking for the recipe of orange rasam. So today i am sharing the recipe of orange rasam, try this at home and let me know how it turned out.

Hotel sambar recipe | Sambar recipe

hotel sambar

Sambar is the staple in the main coruse menu in all South Indian homes. I have already posted murungakkai sambar, arachuvitta sambar, kalyana sambar and many more in jeyashris kitchen. This sambar recipe is the same recipe in my sambar rice recipe. During my interaction with a marriage caterer for the recipe of vendakkai puli mandi, he told me few tips also and one among them is cooking the spices for the sambar in ghee. I have tried out few times after and it was a super duper hit at home. Varun, my little one who always eats idli | dosa with molagapodi loves this sambar a lot and he drank the remaining sambar in the bowl. Since this sambar is with toor dal, it goes well with rice and tiffin items too.  This exactly tasted like the hotel sambar. If you skip the onions it will taste more like kalyana sambar. Try it out at home and let me know how it turned out. I added mullangi | radish to the sambar.

Vendakkai puli mandi recipe | South Indian gravies

Vendakkai puli mandi

Vendakkai puli mandi , is basically a chettinad recipe, with vendakkai | ladies finger based gravy, pairs well with plain rice. Though i have heard this, happened to taste this in my neice wedding, i recently attended in India. Me and my sister got hooked up by its taste and asked the person who was serving, the name of the dish. Then we both went straight into the kitchen and looked for the chief cook and asked him the recipe. He was bit busy that time and gave his phone number and asked me to contact him the next day. So after the wedding got over, the next day i called the chief cook (Mr. Janakiraman)  and he patiently explained the recipe and also clarified my queries on few other authentic recipes too.
