PINEAPPLE RAITA |PINEAPPLE RAITA RECIPE

Pineapple raita is an interesting rata which i happened to taste in a Indian restaurant in Bali, 3 years back. After that i totally forgot about this pineapple raita. Recently , i suddenly remembered this while seeing our trip album and that day to my luck i had fresh pineapple with me at home. So i asked  my friend about this recipe, who makes it at her place. Yes i have good friends around from all different parts of India, so they are always at my help whenever i have any queries.Smile

So let us see how to make Pineapple raita.

Pinapple raita recipe

INGREDIENTS:

PINEAPPLE(CUBED) 3/4 CUP
YOGURT | CURD 3/4 CUP
RED CHILLI POWDER 1/4 TSP
SUGAR 1/4 TSP
CUMIN SEED POWDER 1/4 TSP
CHAAT MASALA 2 PINCHES
SALT TO TASTE

METHOD:

  • Hung the curd for 10 minutes to take out the extra water. this step is truly optional. I just kept the curd on a big filter.

  • Take the yogurt in a wide bowl.

  • Add salt, sugar, red chilli powder,jeera powder and chaat masala.

  • Mix well.

  • Add the pineapple cubes and mix well. Serve chilled with any spicy biryani or you can have this as it is.

     Pienapple raita  NOTE:

  1. Hanging the curd will give a creamy raita.
  2. The amount of spices can be altered according to your taste.

PINEAPPLE JUICE RECIPE ( WITH ORANGE)| SUMMER DRINKS RECIPES.

   Before going on to the post, I am happy to mention that my recipe of Tomato Sweet pachadi got featured in The Hindu, a popular daily Newspaper in India. Click THIS LINK to read the recipe.

    Summer  is   still at the peak and i wanted to try a combo of pineapple and orange for a long time. When i saw this fresh cut pineapples in the wet market, I got a packet and made juice after coming home. This tasted so yum and my kiddos too loved this.

INGREDIENTS:

PINEAPPLE CUBES 1 CUP
ORANGES 2 NO
SUGAR 3 TSP
WATER 1/2 CUP
ICE CUBES FEW
PINEAPPLE JUICE

METHOD:

  • Cut he pineapple into cubes and squeeze out the juice from the oranges.
  • Blend in a blender along with sugar.

  • Once done filter this and add water and ice cubes.

  • Enjoy this easy pineapple juice along with oranges .

Note:

  1. Addition of a small piece of ginger while blending, will enhance the flavor and will be more refreshing too.
  2. Honey can be replaced for sugar.

PINEAPPLE PAPAYA SMOOTHIE

      I never know how the combo of papaya and pineapple will work out, but when i tried to my surprise it turned out so well. The recipe for papaya pineapple milkshake i am sharing in this post.

INGREDEINTS:

PAPAYA(CHOPPED) 1/4 CUP
PINEAPPLE(CHOPPED) 1/4 CUP
SUGAR 1 TSP
COLD MILK 3/4 CUP
SMOOTHIE
  • Combine all the ingredients and beat this in a mixer.
  • Serve immediately.
  • We had this for breakfast with sandwich. Will post the recipe of sandwich soon.

PINEAPPLE RASAM RECIPE | RASAM VARIETIES

      Last week  we are invited  to a friend’s place for lunch and her mom made pineapple rasam . I tasted that for the first time , it tasted very different and nice and i loved the pineapple flavour in the rasam  . I asked the recipe of pineapple rasam from my friend’s mom and  i slightly altered it according to my taste and made it . Everyone enjoyed it and here comes the recipe of pineapple rasam.

Preparation time :10 mins  Cooking time :20 mins  Serves:  3-4
INGREDIENTS:
PINEAPPLE CHUNKS 1/2 CUP
TOMATO
GINGER 1/2 INCH PIECE
GREEN CHILLI
SAMBHAR POWDER 1 TSP
SALT AS NEEDED
ASAFIDITA A PINCH
TOOD DAL 2 TBLSP
CURRY LEAVES FEW
CORIANDER LEAVES FEW
OIL 1/4 TSP
MUSTARD SEEDS 1/4 TSP

METHOD:


  • Cut the tomatoes and half of the pineapple into fine pieces.
  • In a kadai, add the tomatoes, pineapple pieces ,salt , sambhar powder and a cup of water .

  • Allow it to cook in a medium flame till the tomatoes and pineapple  becomes soft .
  • Grind 3 tblsp of pineapple along with ginger and green chilli into a fine paste.
  • Add 2 cups of water to the toor dal .

  • Add the ground paste and toor dal water to the kadai.
  • Keep the flame to medium low and switch off when it becomes frothy.
  • Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.

  • Heat oil in a small pan and throw in the mustard seeds and when it splutters transfer it to the rasam.
  • Serve with any dry curry.

If the pineapple is very sweet , you can add a tblsp of lemon juice after switching the flame (towards the end.)

After tasting a wonderful pineapple kesari in saravana bhavan ,i wanted to attempt this at home. This recipe i have tried so many times,but every time i make this , it gets over within 5 minutes.
