Millet Flakes upma recipe, Breakfast recipes

Millet flakes upma recipe, with video and step by step pictures. Millet flakes upma is an easy to make healthy breakfast recipe. We all make Poha upma | batata poha using rice flakes. In our house, poha upma is a quite staple and i make it once in a week. And the only dish, which Suresh can make so confidently is Poha upma. I generally use getti aval for making batata poha and sometimes the medium thick poha also will be used in my kitchen. We all love the addition of peanuts in poha upma and so i generally add little more of peanuts in my upma.
Recently i saw Millet flakes,in many varieties of millet when i went to India. I thought i will buy a packet to try that but in the last minute i forgot about that. Few days back when i visited Sri Murugan stores(Singapore) to buy my grocery, I saw the varieties of Millet flakes there. I am excited to see that and picked a 250 gms of Little millet flakes. I tried Upma with that and it turned out quite well and no one noticed that it is made using millet. The taste is so similar, i made this recipe by combining my Pori upma and batata poha recipes. You can also make millet flakes paal payasam, thayir sadam using this millet flakes.
For my readers in Singapore, Sri Murugan has a wide range of Millet flakes and they are available in small 250 gms packet too. They do home delivery island wide. Download Sri Murugan stores app in Android and iOs device and place your order.

Onion tomato Thokku recipe with step by step pictures, an onion tomato based chutney which has a hint of fennel seeds and cumin seeds, pairs well with Idli, dosa, chapathi and paratha. I have already mentioned in my ellu chutney recipe, that my friend who visited us here, shared with me some interesting chutney recipes. I shared her version of Milagai chutney too.  This onion tomato thokku is one among them and she told that it is her mil's signature dish. the addition of sombu| fennel seeds in this chutney gives a nice taste to this chutney. For me, sombu we add only in biryanis and kurmas and i was too skeptical as how it will taste in chutneys. I  tried this few back weeks back and loved the taste of this onion tomaot thokku. Do try this easy chutney recipe at home.

Ragi rava laddu recipe, Indian sweets

Ragi rava laddu recipe, a super easy Indian sweet made using roasted ragi flour, semolina, ghee and sugar. Recently a friend sent me some delicious ragi laddus to me, while returning my dabbas, which was with her. The laddus were too yum and i assumed that it is store bought as she sent a pack of Grand sweets mixture too. I immediately pinged her and appreciated it and she told it was made by her mother in law. As the taste was lingering, i planned to make this easy Indian sweet for Janmashtami. I asked her the recipe and she told it is made using whole ragi. I had 2 packets of roasted ragi flour i wanted to try it out with that flour. Since i wanted to get the same texture, i added little coarsely ground sooji too. You can make the ragi laddus only with ragi flour too. A simple and easy diwali sweet which will surely get appreciations from the family.

Dry fruits poli, How to make poli easy method

No sugar added poli

Dry fruits poli, a no sugar less oil Indian dessert recipe, a healthy version of poli, recipe with step by step pictures. Poli also called as Obattu, Holige, puran poli, vermi in different languages, is a sweet loaded with ghee. The stuffing inside the polis varies from place to place as South Indians, Maharastrians use chana dal and gujaratis use Toor dal. Apart from these traditional polis we also make different varieties of poli with our own creative ideas. I have posted carrot poli, thenga poli apart from the traditional ones with chana dal and the Maharastrian style puran poli. I still remember the way amma and patti makes poli loaded with oil and a super delicious soft polis. They make in huge batches and even distribute to our neighbors too. I don't claim an expert in making polis like the same way she makes, but i can make decent polis. It is more you gain mastery over it by practice. As i do it only once a year for aavani avittam and that too in a very small quantity, my output will not match her level of excellence.
As we all are becoming health conscious and running out of time when any festival falls on a week day. But still we want to follow the traditions too and i am seeing many young girls around the world are so enthusiastic in doing all the delicacies on a festival day.
I am no sure whether diabetic patients can consume dates and nuts, so i don't claim this diabetic friendly sweets but you can call no sugar added sweet. Try this relatively healthy version of poli and enjoy the festival. Also check out my

Overnight Savory oats recipe

Overnight Savory Oats recipes using quick cook oats, made in South Indian style curd rice. I have been eating Overnight Oats for the past few days. I am trying some combo of fruits everyday, but still after few days i craved for some salt version in the morning. So i tried the curd rice version and i shared that in Jeyashri's kitchen Instagram story too. It tasted so yum and i topped my Overnight oats with raw mango pickle and some pomegranates too. If you want to try a different version of oats do give it a try and i am sure you will love it. My next trial is with rasam and a cold rasam overnight oats😉. Also you can top it with vatha kuzhambu or some roasted crushed mor milagai too. Instead of pomegrantes you can add chopped grapes too.
Please ignore my the poor pictures. It was continuously raining and i could manage to click only such pictures.
