LAUKI CHANNA DAL RECIPE | BOTTLE GOURD KOOTU

Lauki |Suraikkai | Bottle gourd is a very healthy vegetable, but in our houses we don't cook it much. It is best for people weight watchers and lactating mothers. We can make this in a South indian sytle kootu too. I learnt this recipe from one of my friend here. She hails from a authentic Punjabi family and she shared few dishes which they make at home regularly. This simple Lauki channa dal curry turned out very well and you can have this with rice as well as rotis too. Thanks for the recipes Punitha. Will post more authentic Punjabi dishes soon.

MICROWAVE CARROT PORIYAL RECIPE | INDIAN MICROWAVE RECIPES

Carrot-poriyal
Carrot poriyal | carrot curry is a simple curry, which can be made in both stove top and Microwave too. I wanted to post the Microwave version, as it is very simple and can be done by bachelors too. I remember some 12 years ago when i went to Hongkong with Suresh, in that hotel room we just survived with the help of microwave and rice cooker for cooking. I am not so much used to hot plates too. I make tea, poriyal, curry in microwave only. Even microwave was so new to me. I just explored on my own. Here in Singapore, even after 6 years, i just bought a basic microwave 2 weeks back only. just for the purpose of reheating, especially when i have guests at home.
Now you can look forward for more Microwave recipes every weekend from Jeyashri's Kitchen.

ADHIRASAM RECIPE | DIWALI SWEETS RECIPE

Adirasam
Adhirasams i made it for the first time. Many of them make for adhirasams for Diwali but we don’t have the tradition of making this for diwali.  But i wanted to try my hands on Adhirasam. I tried it in my mom’s house when i went in June. My sister’s sil helped me out but unfortunately it was a big disaster. My mom went for  a function in Trichy 2 months back and there she asked the samayal mami the exact proportion and also the nuances of making adhirasams. And she tried this in small quantity at home and gave me the exact recipe. Yay i got perfect soft adhirasams.
Actually i tried this during Navaratri itself , though i wanted to make again today, i was totally running out of time.

GODHUMAI HALWA | EASY WHEAT FLOUR HALWA | DIWALI RECIPES

Godhumai-halwa
After trying the Kasi halwa and Karachi halwa i thought i will try Godumai halwa | wheat halwa at home. I tried the halwa with wheat flour and it turned out pretty awesome. I just jumped out of joy and it tasted exactly like the Tirunelveli halwa which we get in shops. But home made is always best right. So without waiting just go and try this halwa at home. I adapted the recipe from here. Very easy to prepare and no complicated steps. Just have to stir patiently. You get glossy halwa. So go ahead and prepare this Godumai halwa for this Diwali 2014.

OATS POTTUKADALAI MURUKKU RECIPE| DIWALI MURUKKU RECIPES

Oats-murukku
Oats pottukadalai murukku is a quite interesting murukku which i came across in Priya's blog. It is very simple and easy murukku. the original recipe has added coconut milk instead of water to make the dough. Since i have already posted Thengai paal murukku for diwali, last year, ithought i will add water only. It turned out very well crispy and for a change you can try murukku with Oats and pottukadalai.  Stay tuned for more diwali recipes coming up on Jeyashri's kitchen .
