Pepper paneer gravy recipe | Paneer recipes

Pepper paneer recipe in coconut milk gravy, a delicious paneer dish pairs well with naan| roti. I tasted this for the first time in Zaffron banana leaf restaurant in Singapore. When i was invited there for food tasting in August 2017, i tasted this pepper paneer(which is called as Paalkatti milgaai pirattal). I asked the Chief chef there about the recipe and it sounded so simple too. Later in October 2017, i attended a cookery demo by Chef. Damu in the restaurant and was taught the same recipe. I learnt the exact recipe from the chef himself and it tasted the same, when i tried it on that day. It is actually Chef's signature recipe, which is made using Prawns. But since i was the only vegetarian in that group, he told me to replace it with Paneer. Try this pepper paneer gravy recipe at home and i am sure you will love the chettinad version of paneer gravy.
This post i have drafted few months back, but didn't post. I generally keep one recipe post in reserve, which will help me on days when i have no time on my disposal to write a post. As Kids are having their term break holidays,i don't have much time to concentrate on my work. So this post comes as a breeze for me today.
Check out my other paneer recipes too.

Coconut hing chutney recipe | Hing chutney

Coconut hing chutney | Hing chutney, made using fresh coconut, tamarind and asafoetida as the main ingredients. This is a very popular Konkani style chutney, pairs very well with idli and dosa. I love this with chapathi too. One of my friend recently shared this recipe and i tried it at home and it was a super hit. The crunchiness of the coconut, taste of tamarind and the flavor of Asafoetida complimented the chutney. This chutney doesn't need any chutney dal,so if you have fresh coconut at home, just proceed with the recipe of making hing chutney, popularly called in Konkani regions. Though the recipe uses more of coconut, they call it as Hing chutney only. I made this Coconut hing chutney using SSP asafoetida. Move on the post to know more about SSP asafoetida.

Indian cooking uses asafoedita | hing | perungayam in most of their cooking. We South Indians mainly use asafoetida in Sambar and rasam and we strongly believe that perungayam gives flavor to the dishes. When SSP Asafoetida, leading manufacturer of perungayam in South India sent me their products for review,,i decided to make this chutney recipe. I have used SSP perungayam before,so i know the flavour of their product. Though it is slightly priced higher compared to other brands, but a very tiny pinch of  SSP asafoetida gives more flavour to the dish. So if a recipe calls for 1/4 tsp of asafoetida, when you are using SSP perungayam, you can use 1/8th tsp of it. Their products are available Amazon and for my readers in Singapore, you can buy from Saravana stores Singapore, located at Rangoon road. They have a wide range of products and i used Ultra powder asafoetida in this recipe. Check out the Amazon link to buy SSP products.

Suji ka halwa recipe | Sooji ka halwa

Suji ka halwa recipe with step by step pictures, a popular Indian Sweet made using Semolina, ghee and sugar. I have already posted the South Indian kesari recipe, this suji ka halwa is similar to that but there is  slight variation in measurements and methods. I have tasted this for the first time, when my North Indian friend invited Varsha for Ashtami and offered, Puri, suji ka halwa and channa for Navratri. The tradition itself is new to me. We South Indians celebrate Navratri and keep Golu. I was thinking to post the North Indian version of Suji ka halwa. When i called my friend she told, her in father in law is an expert in making this and told me to come over to take down the recipe from him. I happily went and uncle explained patiently the entire recipe and i noted it down and he patiently clarified all my silly doubts too. As now many North Indians are celebrating Chaitra Navratri this week, Saturday will be ashtami and this sooji ka halwa is made for that.

As it is very simple and easy to make it is a bachelor friendly recipe too. Few months back when i was chatting with my cousin, she told she won a cookery competition, themed Poha recipes and Poha fried rice was made by her friend. The idea was so interesting and i wanted to try it at home. I got Getti aval | Thick poha from the nearby Indian shop and made it today. Millet Bisi bele bath recipe | Millet Recipes

Bisi bele bath, using millets with step by step pictures. Bisi bele bath is a popular Karnataka dish, made usingMillets and toor dal and other freshly ground Sambar masala. I have already posted my version of Bisi bele bath recipe with video, but i don't claim it as authentic Karnataka recipe. This Millet Bisi bele bath recipe i have already given in my First cook book on Millets, Neengalum Samaikalam Sirudhaniyam. Recently i tried a slightly different version of bisi bele bath, which i learnt from my co sister.  I have tried this some time back using rice and shared in Jeyashris kitchen Instagram too. I generally use home made sambar powder and fresh spices for making bisi bele bath, but she always uses only fresh masala. I generally don't add cinnamom or clove in Bisi bele bath as my family don't like it that way. Kids love this version too, but today when i made this recipe by replacing millets with rice, i was not sure as how they will respond. They enjoyed the Millet Bisi bele bath and we had Yam Tawa fry and cut mango pickle to pair with this hot hot bisi bela bath | sambar rice.

Green Chutney with Almonds |Mint almond dip

Green Chutney with almonds| Mint almond dip,Kebab chutney this is a perfect chutney|dip for Chaat, sandwiches, samosas and kebabs. I have tried this green chutney with almonds some time back when i made Dahi kebabs for my cookery class in Singapore. This gives a  richness and volume to the chutney. The addition of chaat masala gives a nice flavor to the dip. A friend of mine shared this chutney recipe with me but she added Mayonnaise to this instead of almonds. I didn't want to add mayonnaise so added almonds. Even you can add 1 tablespoon thick yogurt to this green chutney. In that case you can skip the lemon juice. Stay tuned for interesting Paneer recipe coming up using this mint almond dip. Check out my

Nilgiri Kurma recipe, vegetables cooked in mint coriander based gravy a perfect side dish for  chapati and poori. I wanted to try a side dish for chapathi with the base we prepare for making vegetable biryani. I have tasted a similar version of korma in a restaurant buffet, and they named it as Nilgiri kurma. So i named it the same. Later when i googled, i came to know that there is a recipe for popular Nilgiri Chicken kurma. This Nilgiri Veg kurma turned out so delicious and it pairs very well with rotis and pooris. The addition of coconut milk in the end gives a nice taste to the kurma.
