MINI MASALA UTTAPAM RECIPE | SOUTH INDIAN BREAKFAST RECIPES

Masala uttapam recipe, is a simple kids friendly tiffin or lunch box recipe. Not even kids even adults also love this very much. Actually i wanted to post 5 taste uttapam, whci we get in restaurants, but this masala uttapam is a long pending for me. So will post the 5 taste uttappam later for sure. I first tasted this in my friend's house during last navaratri. She made this for all guests and it stayed super soft even after 3 hours. From that day i wanted to buy a mini uttapam pan for me. When i was talking to her about the availabilily of the pan in India, i came to know it is quite common to find this in India now a days. Even i ordered online for my mom 2 months back. My friend's mom when she visited here 2 months after Navaratri gifted me this mini uttapam pan. I was so overwhelmed on seeing that. I made the masala uttapams many times after that but as a South indian i always make this for breakfast or dinner, i never had a chance to click the picture. When my mom was here last week, i made this for her and after going back to India she made this yesterday at home. She told me i searched the recipe of mini masala uttapam in jeyashri's kitchen but it was not there. I said i will post this for sure amma and finally came up with the post today.

BATATA VADA RECIPE | ALOO VADA

Batata vada is similar to the south Indian Urulai kizhangu bonda . I happened to taste this  batata vada in my cousin's house last week. We attended a birthday party of her son and a cook lady came to help her in cooking. She made aloo vada for starter. The batata vadas were so nice and the way she made it me and mom loved it very much. So the floowing day i had my friends at home for a evening tea. So i made the batata vada for her on a rainy day evening. We all enjoyed it again with a cup of strong filter coffee. Let us see how to make batata vada.

KARUNAI KIZHANGU MASIYAL | PIDI KARANAI MASIYAL

Karunai kizhangu masiyal| pidi karanai , many of us think this may be Yam, but this is different. This is a authentic recipe in Tamil brahmin cuisine.We don't add garlic or onion in this recipe. Generally this vegetable is very itchy and many will not use it much. But i have given tips to reduce the itchiness of the karunai kizhangu in this post. Amma makes masiyal with this. I bought this kizhangu 3 weeks back and made masiyal last week, In my mil's place we do it with yam and also the method is different. Even amma makes 2 varieties of masiyal with this pidi karanai. This one will be like kootu and the other one will be like sambar. Will share that recipe too soon. This version of masiyal my mom taught me last week when she was here and it turned out very well. During my childhood days, i never touch this when amma makes it. But now i love this masiyal and got few more yesterday to make this masiyal after 2 weeks.

MICROWAVE ROASTED MOONG DAL | INDIAN MICROWAVE RECIPES

 Haldirams style roasted moong dal 

How many of you are a big fan of Haldiram style roasted moong dal? We all love this very much but since it is deep fried i buy it very rarely. Recently i came tasted this in a friend's house and it tasted pretty nice. She told she didn't fry and instead did in a microwave. I tried this at home the next week and it turned out quite well. Of course i agree deep fried one will be so awesome but this one was equally good. Try this guilt free snack for your cup of tea this evening.

ROSE FALOODA POPSICLE RECIPE | EASY POPSICLE RECIPES

Rose falooda i wanted to post this in a tall glass like how it is served in restaurants. But twice while carefully bringing it from the kitchen to the clicking spot(living room) i spilled the ice cream on the top and so turned it into a popsicle. I wanted to post rose falooda in glass and kesar kulfi falooda in kulfi moulds, but it didn't work. Will post the kulfi falooda, also in sometime. I personally love that as it reminds of our Paal ice and semiya ice of our child hood days. While writing itself i am drooling. My daughter who is a big fan of rosemilk enjoyed this popsicle very much..

Akki roti is a traditional Karnataka dish, generally made for breakfast or dinner. When you are running out of idli or dosa batter you can make this and a tomato kara chutney is a perfect side dish for this akki roti . MINT LEMON JUICE | SUMMER COOLER RECIPES

 Mint lemon cooler, i have tasted this first time at a cousin's place in chennai. When we went to her house she served us with this mint lemon juice. On seeing the vibrant green colour in a glass, i was bit reluctant to drink this as i felt it will be too strong. Turned out to my surprise, it tasted so awesome. Shamelessly, i asked for one more serving and relished every sip of it. Last week when i was picking fresh mint leaves from the market, this mint lemon juice flashed into my mind, and since the summer is in peak i thought it will be a refreshing one for the summer. Got the exact recipe from her made it and we all enjoyed this . A perfect party starter too.

INSTANT LEMON PICKLE RECIPE| EASY PICKLE RECIPES

I have already posted a lemon pickle recipe few years ago. Amma makes an instant lemon pickle |elumichai oorugaai in tamil, by using pressure cooker method. Yesterday when we went to little india to buy vegetables, seeing the cute lemons in the market, i picked few to make some juice.(posting the a new recipe soon) Amma picked few more to make this instant lemon pickle. While coming back i was asking as how to make the instant pickle. The method she explained was so easy and today morning i made this while she was watching tv. She loved the pickle and though i am not a big fan of lemon pickle i liked it very much. The pickle was not so bitter and since the it is pressure cooked the skin was so soft too.

VADA CURRY RECIPE | CHETTINADU VADA CURRY| SIDE DISH FOR IDLI| DOSA

Vada curry, is a long time due for me to post it here. I got many requests for this and finally when a ardent reader reminded this again, i thought i will post this soon. I got introduced to this by my friend after moving to Singapore. Though i have seen in restaurant menus Set dosa Vada curry, i don't have any clue as how it will taste or look too. When my friend one day gave this to me i somehow liked it but felt it will be nice with rotis instead of idli|dosa. Vada curry is a Chettinadu ( a small town in Tamil nadu ) delicacy genrally made for breakfast. I called my friend and she clearly explained the recipe over phone. Thanks to her, vada curry turned out awesome and my mom who is now with me enjoyed the vada curry very much. Try out this at home and enjoy your breakfast.
